Deputy Economy Minister: Anaklia Deep Sea Port construction on schedule for 2029 operational launch

“The Anaklia Deep Sea Port project has transitioned into an active construction phase, making its full scale and strategic importance clear,” said Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani.

The Deputy Minister noted that two dredging vessels have already entered the marine basin to deepen the harbour floor, while the construction of the main breakwater is underway.

“Anaklia Deep Sea Port holds immense significance both for Georgia and the wider region. It will enable us to create an entirely new economic reality, substantially boosting our competitiveness in the Black Sea basin and solidifying our strategic position along the Middle Corridor. Crucially, works are progressing strictly according to schedule, and the port will be fully operational by 2029,” Tamar Ioseliani declared.

According to the Ministry of Economy’s update, dredging operations at the port site are proceeding at pace. Following the initial deployment of the Tristao Da Cunha, a second trailing suction hopper dredger, the Al-Idrisi, has commenced operations in the marine basin.
