“To refuse the Eucharistic spoon as a source of infection is totally unacceptable,” the Holy Synod announced after the meeting today.
As Metropolitan Andrew (Gvazava) of Gori and Ateni stated after the regular plenary session of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Georgia, the rite of receiving Holy Eucharist will not be changed.
Metropolitan added that the parish will be able to use disposable cups for drinking the sweet wine after the communion.
