GPB to broadcast Tokyo 2020 Paralympics

The Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) will broadcast Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games for the first time in Georgia.

Scheduled as the 16th Summer Paralympic Games, 2020 Tokyo Paralympics will be held between August 23 and September 5, 2021.

Forty-four thousand athletes from 136 countries will participate in the upcoming international multi-sport parasports event governed by the International Paralympic Committee.

The GPB will broadcast all key competitions in different sports.

“Supporting diversity and inclusiveness is significant for the GPB. The broadcaster uses all platforms for different projects. We consider it significant to broadcast the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, where Georgian athletes will compete, and the society will unite on the GPB First Channel to support them.

Given the mission of the Public Broadcaster to serve every citizen, acquisition and broadcast of the Paralympics is the most important message for the development of a better, inclusive society,” said Tinatin Berdzenishvili, GPB Director General.
