Government Efficiency Department shows notable progress in anti-corruption drive in just six months

“The Government Efficiency Department is a tangible outcome of the Prime Minister’s anti-corruption policy, demonstrating significant results after only six months,” Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of the Government Administration, highlighted this on Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) First Channel’s Business Partner programme.

Zhorzholiani emphasised that procurement has long been a weakness across administrations and governments, and that the current administration is committed to resolving this issue definitively.

“Procurement has always been the Achilles’ heel of any government. We decided to overhaul the system entirely to eliminate underpayment, prevent overpayment, and safeguard against corruption risks. Our goal is to pay market prices and ensure quality performance from suppliers within the agreed timeframe. This is our primary concern. The Efficiency Department is one of the key achievements of the Prime Minister’s anti-corruption efforts, and it has already shown serious results in just six months,” Zhorzholiani stated.
