German Chancellor says war in Ukraine should end with Russian troops’ withdrawal

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the war in Ukraine must end with the withdrawal of Russian troops from the country.

“It is clear how this war can end. Russia must withdraw its troops,” Scholz said, following the EU Summit in Brussels, as the German tabloid newspaper Bild reported.

According to the German Chancellor, such a scenario for the end of the war is necessary in order to prevent Russian President Vladimir Putin from forcibly implementing his imperialist goals and altering borders in Europe.

This week, Scholz made it clear that he does not expect a quick end to the Russian aggression in Ukraine. He also confirmed that the EU countries would continue to support Ukraine as long as necessary.

Bild reported that Germany continues to transfer weapons to Ukraine. The German Marder infantry fighting vehicles announced by Berlin in January are already on their way to Ukraine.
