Georgia, among 91 countries, backs UN Resolution urging Russia to return abducted Ukrainian children
The UN General Assembly has passed a resolution during a special emergency session, demanding that Russia return Ukrainian children who have been forcibly taken.
Supported by 91 countries, including Georgia, the resolution’s sponsors encompass the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Sweden, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland.
The nations backing the resolution urge Moscow to “ensure the immediate, safe, and unconditional return of all Ukrainian children who have been forcibly transferred or deported.”
Russia, along with 11 other countries, including Belarus, Iran, Nicaragua, Cuba, and Mali, voted against the resolution. A further 57 countries, including China, India, Brazil, and Armenia, abstained.
The resolution was adopted following a meeting at the Kremlin between U.S. President Donald Trump’s special representative, Steve Witkoff, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
