German Ambassador says Georgia cares that its territory is not used for circumventing sanctions

“We know that Georgia has not issued sanctions of its own, but Georgia is taking care that the territory of Georgia is not used to circumvent the sanctions of the European Union, US, UK, and Japan,” said German Ambassador to Georgia Peter Fischer.

“We are confident of that, but every day, we have to be on the lookout because if you make sanctions, there will always be someone to get around them. So, every day we have to study this.

Sanctions are a way of showing Russia that there is a cost for illegal and aggressive behaviour. We want Russia to understand that. It has to stop illegal aggression of Ukraine, and if it stops, we do not need sanctions,” he said.
