According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia, in March 2025, the inflation rate in Georgia increased by 1.1 per cent compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate reached 3.5 per cent.
Regarding core inflation, this indicator stood at 2.4 per cent in March 2025 compared to the corresponding period of last year, while the annual core inflation rate excluding tobacco was also determined to be 2.4 per cent.
“The formation of the monthly inflation rate was primarily influenced by price changes in the following groups:
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: Prices in this group increased by 2.8 per cent, which contributed 0.93 percentage points to monthly inflation. Price increases were observed in the following subgroups: vegetables and melons (7.4 per cent), sugar, jam and other confectionery (6.0 per cent), bread and bread products (4.8 per cent), mineral and spring water, non-alcoholic beverages and natural juices (3.6 per cent), fruit and grapes (3.0 per cent), coffee, tea and cocoa (2.4 per cent), fish products (1.7 per cent), oil and fat (1.1 per cent), meat and meat products (0.7 per cent).
Meanwhile, prices decreased in the milk, cheese and eggs subgroup (-0.3 per cent);
Healthcare: Prices in this group increased by 1.7 per cent, contributing 0.15 percentage points to monthly inflation. Price increases were observed in the subgroups: medical products, equipment and devices (2.2 per cent), outpatient medical services (2.2 per cent);
Clothing and footwear: Prices in this group increased by 1.0 per cent, contributing 0.05 percentage points to monthly inflation. Prices increased for clothing (2.5 per cent). However, prices decreased for footwear (-2.0 per cent),” the report published by the National Statistics Office reads.
