Georgia's PM says nation cannot develop in peace while constantly under sabotage

“Protecting the constitutional order is fundamental; it is the foundation of any lawful state. All must recognise democracy, and constitutional principles and the constitutional order must be acknowledged universally,” stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to journalists in Dubai.

As the Head of Government emphasised, it is vital to uphold this boundary, which necessitates a legal assessment.

“The constitutional order must be safeguarded; it is the starting point for any lawful state. Everyone must recognise democracy, and constitutional principles, along with the constitutional order, must be universally acknowledged. If issues arise in this regard, they must, of course, be addressed through legislation. Therefore, I believe this is a crucial and timely initiative, and I hope Parliament will see it through to completion. Respecting this boundary requires a legal framework. In my legal assessment, it is being respected appropriately here.

There is a clear distinction between freedom of expression and the strength of the constitutional order, the latter being one of our highest interests. A country cannot develop peacefully if it is perpetually in a state of sabotage. Everyone must respect the established order.

We can all see that, in reality, everyone recognises the constitutional system and constitutional bodies. However, there are constant opposing messages aimed at preventing this country from settling into stability. Our interest is the opposite. Our society’s priority is to bring peace and stability, and everyone must respect our democratic system and constitutional order. The draft law currently under discussion is based on this principle,” the Prime Minister concluded.
