Georgia offers full political, humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, GD says

“Georgia lends complete political support to Ukraine and humanitarian aid but cannot and will not provide military assistance,” stated Mamuka Mdinaradze, Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party.

Mamuka Mdinaradze commented on the remarks of Andrii Kasianov, Ukraine’s chargé d’affaires in Georgia, who conducted a news conference earlier on Tuesday on numerous topics, including Ukraine’s continuous request to the Georgian government for military and other dual-purpose equipment.

Georgia cannot take sides in a military conflict, the GD Executive Secretary said.

“Taking sides in the Russian occupation war is not in Georgia’s best interests. We will continue to protect the peace,” he stated.

Mdinaradze went on to say that delivering Ukraine’s message to Georgia through its ambassador implies Georgia should be defined as the side in this war.

“The main message and purpose were to position Georgia as the side, although the nation shelters over 30 000 refugees, provides humanitarian help, and is a co-author and supporter of over 400 documents, including those dealing with the Hague and military tribunals against Russia. In certain circumstances, it is a co-investor, supporter, or co-author.

As a result, Georgia gives complete and unconditional political support to Ukraine, as well as humanitarian help well above its capabilities, but cannot and will not provide military assistance since a country at risk and with seized territories cannot be a military supporter. This is an undeniable reality,” Mdinaradze explained.
