Georgia extradites person, wanted by Interpol's Red Notice, to the US
Georgia extradited a person wanted under the Interpol’s Red Notice to the USA, announced Irakli Chilingarashvili, Head of the International Relations and Legal Assurance Department of the General Prosecutor’s Office at the briefing.
The individual, detained in Batumi, Adjara region, was accused of fraudulent possession of USD 70 million- worth of cryptocurrency. The person organized at least 20 fraudulent online investment schemes and ensured their functioning.
Georgian Justice Minister decided to extradite the wanted person on October 11, 2023. The decision was upheld by the Tbilisi City Court and the Supreme Court of Georgia.
“The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia is ready to successfully cooperate with the competent authorities of partner countries in the future in order to bring the wanted persons to justice,” the Prosecutor’s Office said.
