GD's Levan Makhashvili: Government to do its best Namakhvani HPP case not to be burden for state budget, society, hopes to close issue gradually
“In all formats, be it the court or other legal mechanisms, the government will attempt to prevent the Namakhvani HPP issue from becoming an irreversible problem and close it gradually,” said Levan Makhashvili, MP of the Georgian Dream (GD) party.
According to Makhashvili, the government will do its best for the Namakhvani HPP case not to become a burden for the state budget.
“For the last few years, in the case of Namakhvani Hydro Electric Power Plant, we have seen the attacks on state energy independence, critical factors of state functioning and components. This was clearly a sabotage against the economic independence or energy independence of the state.
Also, society sees that the government does its best to ensure that the Namakhvani HPP case is not the burdern for the state budget and social development. In all formats, be it the court or other legal mechanisms, the government will attempt to prevent the Namakhvani HPP issue from becoming an irreversible problem and close it gradually,” he said.
In a significant decision for international arbitration in France, in the Namakhvani Hydro Electric Power Plant case, the Paris Court of Appeal confirmed the termination of USD 400 million by the Georgian government in favor of Enka Renewables LLC until the final verdict.
