The Georgian Dream party has released further details regarding the phone conversation between French President Emmanuel Macron and Bidzina Ivanishvili, Honorary Chair of the party. According to the GD Press Service, President Macron raised concerns about the detainees from the recent public protests in Tbilisi.

“The Honorary Chair clarified for the President that the majority of those detained were held under administrative charges and would soon be released. As for individuals charged under the Criminal Code, they will be held accountable per legal requirements and the highest standards, based on the evidence collected.

Bidzina Ivanishvili also informed the French President that the police responded to the mass violence by protesters in line with the highest European standards. Additionally, during the conversation, the GD Honorary Chair noted that an investigation was ongoing into individual offences,” the GD stated.

Initiated by French President Emmanuel Macron, the phone conversation provided an opportunity for dialogue between him and Bidzina Ivanishvili, as reported by GD.

According to the GD press service, President Macron expressed his concern regarding recent developments in Georgia and conveyed his willingness to assist in resolving the situation. Bidzina Ivanishvili thanked the French President for his initiative and welcomed the prospect of collaborative efforts. Both leaders agreed to maintain communication in the coming days to assess the situation’s progress.
