Gakharia for Georgia party: Gakharia targeted at airport, claims "special group" involved, police passive

According to the Gakharia for Georgia party, the party leader Giorgi Gakharia and their teammate Elguja Khokrishvili were met by a “pre-organized ‘special group'” at the airport upon their return to Tbilisi from the Munich Security Conference.

As the party’s press service stated, insulting shouts were heard directed at Gakharia and Khokrishvili.

“Today, at dawn, upon returning to Georgia from the Munich Security Conference, Ivanishvili arranged for a pre-organized, pre-prepared partisan special group to meet the Gakharia for Georgia party chairman Giorgi Gakharia and our teammate, former ambassador to Germany Elguja Khokrishvili at Tbilisi International Airport. The police present at the scene, who were also pre-warned, aided them through complete inaction.

The violent so-called government, in its hysteria, is becoming uncontrollable.

It’s clear that Ivanishvili is frightened by the results of the Munich Security Conference, and this hysteria is caused by that.

Our political force will do everything to ensure that Ivanishvili loses what’s most precious to him – money and power, so that he can never again commit violence against the Georgian people,” reads the statement released by the party.
