Friendly football match in response to Beliashvili Street incident to be held on April 14

A friendly football match among Georgian and foreign students, participants of an incident at Beliashvili Street in Tbilisi, will be held on April 14. According to Georgian Football Federation, the match will take place at Beliashvili Street stadium starting 18:00.

“Football is a social event. Our main message both on the field and beyond is equality and serves as the symbol of unity in the society,” reads the statement of Football Federation.

Kakha Kaladze, Tbilisi Mayor initiated holding of the friendly match and applied to Levan Kobiashvili, President of Football President with request to organize the match by the end of the week.

“Nobody liked what has happened. Tbilisi is a tolerant city. It would be good if this black stain is forgotten,” Kaladze stated.

A video was released in the social network on April 8 which shows a conflict between Georgian citizens and foreigners. Investigation into the incident is opened.
