French Embassy: Only unity, supported by responsible dialogue, can prevent return of past tragedies
“On February 25th, the French Embassy in Georgia pays tribute to the memory of the victims of the 1921 Soviet occupation, the Embassy of France in Georgia wrote on its Facebook page.
According to the French Embassy, France remains fully committed to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders.
“On February 25th, the French Embassy in Georgia pays tribute to the memory of the victims of the 1921 Soviet occupation.
On February 25, 1921, the Red Army entered Tbilisi, marking the end of the first Democratic Republic of Georgia and the forced integration of the country into the USSR.
This memory resonates particularly strongly in the current context. Russia continues to challenge fundamental principles of international law, sovereignty, and the inviolability of borders.
Remembering February 25th is to honor those who defended freedom, but also to reaffirm a conviction: only unity, supported by a demanding and responsible dialogue, can prevent the return of the tragedies of the past.
France remains fully committed to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders,” the French Embassy said.
