Elene Khoshtaria says she will end hunger strike if opposition agrees to boycott local elections
Coalition for Change leader Elene Khoshtaria says she will end her hunger strike if the opposition reaches an agreement to boycott upcoming local elections.
Speaking in an interview with “Polit-Kalaki,” Khoshtaria said the country is at a “certain crossroads, which explains the reduced street presence as there is insufficient political clarity about what type of struggle we are in.”
“I don’t want to speak to anyone in the opposition in the language of blackmail. I want there to be clarity in society,” Khoshtaria stated.
She argued that the government “desperately needs” opposition participation in elections.
“‘The protest brought nothing and nothing came out of the street’ means capitulation. And this capitulation has not been declared by any political prisoner. A politician who has given up should go home,” she added.
