UNM's Baramidze condemns participation in "Russian-GD sham" elections

“No normal, patriotic force that wants to remove this regime through peaceful means should participate in any form whatsoever in this Russian-Georgian Dream sham,” declared Gia Baramidze, a member of the National Movement.

According to Baramidze, this requires a consistent, principled struggle alongside the Georgian people, which has been ongoing for seven months.

“Those who betray this struggle are precisely the ones who don’t enter the battle, but instead enter a Russian-Georgian Dream special operation, as a result of which they receive thrown bones, numbers written by Bidzina Ivanishvili—not that someone votes for them, gets the right to express an opinion, but they receive those numbers, whatever numbers this regime pens for them. This is like ‘two and two make four.’

The opposition won overall and then they stole our votes. Accordingly, how will the two parties with the worst party ratings now win by participating in this special operation? They’re fooling themselves, thinking people are fools. Sorry, but what they’re saying is quite uncomfortable to watch—they simply stand there and lie so shamelessly. Naturally, they’ve entered the GD’s game and have come to resemble the Georgian Dream both in rhetoric and in talking this nonsense.

It is evident to everyone that the two most significant and influential political parties are not participating. Moreover, we have no intention of declaring a passive boycott—despite false claims and misleading statements to the contrary, including on live broadcasts suggesting that we are entering the fight. So, do we truly want a passive boycott? Who said passive boycott? We’ve emphasized a million times that no passive boycott is our way, nor sitting at home, but our way is struggle, exposing this regime, street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood, village by village exposure and convincing people that we must remove this regime and must not participate in its treacherous process and in the Russian schemes it has set up.

This is one of the directions of our struggle and not simply a passive boycott. They know this very well. We’ve said it a million times, but they still stubbornly talk this nonsense—a normal person would be ashamed instead,” Baramidze noted.
