Colonel Alexander Kiknadze has been appointed as a new head of the East Command of Land Forces of the Georgian Armed Forces. Ministry of Defense reports that the handover ceremony of the flag was held at Vaziani 4th Mechanized Brigade.
Minister of Defense Levan Izoria addressed the assembled personnel and commented on the remarks, made by James Appathurai, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, about the Georgian soldiers. Appathurai said that Georgian troops are better equipped, trained than 10 years ago.
Levan Izoria expressed gratitude to former head of the East Command of Land Forces Brigadier General Shavlego Tabatadze for his service and congratulated Alexander Kiknadze on his appointment.
Alexander Kiknadze has been serving in the Georgian Armed Forces since 1991.
