Covid Certificates to be no longer compulsory

Bidding Covid Certificates or so-called Green Passports at various institutions will be no longer compulsory, the Interagency Coordination Council decided.

Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, who headed the council meeting on Tuesday in the video conference format, said that the Council decided to cancel mandatory Green Passport due to the rapid spread of the Omicron coronavirus strain, mild symptoms and the global practice. Use of Covid certificates for travellers abroad will stand.

Remarking on the epidemiological situation in the country, PM said that despite the number of infected people is soaring, the situation is still under control.

Irakli Garibashvili stressed the significance of vaccination among risk-group patients and the immunization promotion campaign that envisages GEL 100 payment for a buster shot among people aged 50 and above.

The Interagency Coordination Council once again called the population to observe social distancing, wear facemasks and avoid crowded places.
