Court to uphold imprisonment verdict against GPB cameraman assailants
Tbilisi City Court today ruled to uphold the imprisonment verdict against the assailants of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) cameraman Ilia Tvaliashvili.
The court also upheld the ruling in the case of the other five individuals. All of them will remain in custody, while the first hearing is scheduled for November 1.
Three persons detained for attacking GPB cameraman Ilia Tvaliashvili during the anti-Tbilisi Pride rally will face a new article (117) envisaging intentional infliction of grave injury.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia (POG) amended the indictment against Giorgi Maghradze, Giorgi Tsaruashvili and Tsotne Chikhladze on October 20. The crime stipulates a sentence of three to six years in prison.
The far-right mob attacked fifty-three journalists, including GPB cameraman Ilia Tvaliashvili during the July 5 anti-Tbilisi Pride rally in Tbilisi.
