Co-Investment Fund's former head denies financing protests, supports citizens' rallying
Giorgi Bachiashvili, former head of the Co-Investment Fund, declares he is not financing protests but helping people, who are being repressed by the state, in fighting for a European future.
Bachiashvili emphasized that no protest financing mechanism exists.
“This was a lie invented by Imedi TV – Ivanishvili’s personal television, always funded by Ivanishvili and echoing his narrative. Protest financing is something different. No such mechanism exists. No one receives a salary for participation. What financing does a protest need? People come out standing for their values, fighting for the country’s democracy and European future,” Bachiashvili stated.
“I help and will always help people whom the state represses, beats, and places in terrible conditions simply for standing up for their values,” he added.
Bachiashvili also stated he will not publicly name the funds he supports to prevent potential state pressure. Regarding those he assists, he clarified he helps “those damaged in the process, including those beaten and those dismissed from their jobs.”
When asked specifically about who he’s helping in protests, he reiterated that the funds support “those affected in the process, including those beaten and those dismissed from their jobs.”
