Amiran Gamkrelidze names source of infection in 8 new cases of COVID-19

Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), says the source of infection in 8 cases of the 9 new cases has been identified.

Among recent cases, one is from Gachiani cluster, two medical workers have contracted the virus, two new cases are imported (one of them is a truck driver), while three more patients had contact with infected individuals, noted Gamkrelidze.

As for the situation in the village of Karajalara, Amiran Gamkrelidze added that yesterday’s testing revealed only one new case of COVID-19. The testing is still ongoing.

Nine new cases of coronavirus have been detected in Georgia today, increasing the total number of infected people to 1225, according to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC).

Four more patients have recovered from the novel virus in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cured patients up to 1000.
