Ambassador Hartzell to observe high degree of polarization during runoffs
“I have not seen the insulting comments. I don’t exactly know what was said. As a good European, I always find the insulting comments to be not actual. So I would be sceptical to insults,” said EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell, remarking on the statements made during the October 27 Georgian Dream’s final campaign rally.
According to the Ambassador, he still observed the high level of polarization during the pre-election campaign for the upcoming runoff municipal elections.
“We have seen in the course of the second round of the campaign, continuing high degree of polarization, exchange of insults, inopportune to having the election environment that should be about parties, about choices making them free,” Ambassador Hartzell claimed.
The runoffs of local elections will be held in 20 municipalities of Georgia on October 30.
