Abkhazia Autonomous Republic Gov't Chair participates in 63rd round of Geneva Discussions

The 63rd round of international negotiations is set to begin in Geneva, with the Georgian delegation represented by Levan Mgaloblishvili, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, the press service of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia reported.

According to Mgaloblishvili, the discussions will address the implementation of the August 12, 2008 ceasefire agreement and the safe return of internally displaced persons.

“The agenda also includes humanitarian issues such as restrictions on free movement, the prohibition of education in the native language, and illegal detentions.

Recent developments in the occupied territories, including the so-called elections and the possible opening of Sukhumi airport, will also be discussed,” Mgaloblishvili stated.

Technical meetings with co-chairs will be held today, while the official negotiations will begin tomorrow.
