Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said that active communication is necessary with American Senators so that they have accurate information and are not misled. Kaladze commented about the letter of four Congressmen sent to the U.S. Secretary of State and Treasury Secretary about American business in Georgia.
“If these Congressmen are somehow related to Fontera case, there are many questions because, as you know, our country, which belongs to you, me and opposition as well won the commercial dispute with this presumably swindle company,” Kaladze said.
U.S. Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas), member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, John Cornyn (R-Texas), along with Reps. Jodey C. Arrington (R-Texas) and Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), on May 16 sent a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin requesting a briefing in response to concerns about governance issues in Georgia, specifically Georgian illicit financial ties to America’s rivals and enemies, including ties with Iran, that threaten U.S. national security and business interests.
