Paata Imnadze says not following rules will result in situation happening in neighbouring countries

Paata Imnadze, Deputy Director of the Georgian National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), said: “it is too early to talk about the second wave of coronavirus in Georgia.”

As Imnadze told Georgian First Channel, despite the fact that more knowledge about COVID-19 has been accumulated, still the novel virus remains as enigmatical and mysterious as it was from the very beginning.

“The second and ninth waves of coronavirus are still early. let’s see what happens. Fortunately, there was practically no first wave in our country,” noted Imnadze.

Deputy Director of the NCDC claimed that if people follow the basic rules, including wearing face masks, observing social distance, washing hands, the virus will be less disturbing.

“If we do not follow these rules, the same will happen here as it is in the neighbouring countries,” stressed Paata Imnadze.

Imnadze added that Georgia is prepared for the coronavirus wave.

As of August 13, Georgia has reported five new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infected people to 1 283.

Ten more patients have recovered from the novel virus in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cured patients up to 1 068.
