Opposition says victim's consent to be included in amnesty bill

The principle of victim’s consent should be incorporated in the amnesty bill, MP Salome Samadashvili briefed reporters after the meeting of the opposition parties on Sunday.

“We have discussed and formulated our stance on the amnesty bill. The amnesty can only be extended to people who have already been charged with specific articles, in total, 16 demonstrators and three policemen,” Samadashvili said.

Girchi-More Freedom party leader, Zurab Japaridze vows that those who gave orders during the June 20 events and also the officials would not fall under amnesty.

Strategy Agmashenebeli party leader, Giorgi Vashadze reiterated that “butchers will not be included in the amnesty.”

The opposition will hold consultations with the ruling Georgian Dream party over this issue.
