Obtaining of licenses for taxi service to become obligatory

The city government is working on legislative grounds to regulate the sphere of taxi service in Tbilisi.

Kakha Kaladze, Tbilisi Mayor said during the city government’s sitting today that Tbilisi Municipality plans to carry out the reform based on which issuance of permits and obtaining of licenses for taxi drivers will become obligatory.

The reform will be presumably implemented in several stages. At the initial stage, taking of the permit and attaching taxi signs, lighting or lamps to the roof of vehicles will be compulsory.

According to Tbilisi City Hall, the aim of the reform is insurance of comfortable service and provision of safety for passengers.
