Lelo urges Branch Economy and Environment Committees to hold sitting over Namakhvani HPP

Lelo faction in the Georgian parliament urges the Branch Economy and Environment Committees to hold a sitting over Namakhvani HPP.

The faction members want Ministers of Economy, Justice and Environment Protection to attend the sitting. The faction MPs invited opponents of the HPP to the sitting.

According to Lelo members, construction of Namakhvani HPP is important for the country’s energy independence and economic development. However, it should happen in line with international standards.

“When, on the one hand, there are so many questions in the public, and, on the other hand, over eighty energy, hydro or other similar projects have not been implemented in Georgia, backed by billions of investments, it indicates that” Georgian Dream “cannot manage processes or economic policy,” said Mamuka Khazaradze, Leader of Lelo party.

Anti-Namakhvani HPP protesters demand that ENKA Investor Company left the Rioni Gorge and that the contract with the company.
