Inauguration ceremony of Georgia’s 5th President to be held in Telavi today

The inauguration ceremony of Georgia’s 5th President Salome Zurabishvili will take place today in Telavi city of eastern Kakheti region.

The inauguration ceremony will begin at 15:00 and will last for 49 minutes. A solemn reception will be held at Telavi State Theater.

About 150 representatives from 55 countries and members of 16 international organizations will attend the inauguration ceremony, among them President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian, former President of France (2007 – 2012) Nicolas Sarkozy, Vice President of the Republic of Turkey, Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament and other Honorary Guests.

According to the inauguration scenario, the army will be ready at 15:00, the flag-bearers of the military units will appear, then Georgia’s incumbent President Giorgi Margvelashvili and President-elect Salome Zurabishvili. The Swearing-In ceremony will take place.

New Constitution will be enforced in Georgia after the Swearing-In ceremony. The Constitution consisting of 11 chapters and 78 articles sets the principles of human rights and defines authorities among the governmental branches.

The necessary attributes in the inauguration ceremony are Georgian national anthem, flag, and cannon-fire.

Salome Zurabishvili is Georgia’s 5th President and Georgia’s first female president.

After the inauguration, Salome Zurabishvili will start work in Orbeliani Palace at Atoneli Street in Tbilisi.
