Representatives of OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) held a meeting with management of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB).
Vasil Maghlaperidze, General Director of GPB said after the meeting that the forthcoming 2020 parliamentary elections, the role of the media and legislative space with which the media will guide with during the elections served as the main topics during the meeting.
“We underlined that Georgian Public Broadcaster is ready for the parliamentary elections. Besides the fact that Public Broadcaster is fully unbiased, we introduced election observers with those mechanisms, which will be operational during the election process,” Maghlaperidze said.
According to GPB General Director, a detailed and weekly analysis will be made during the elections but the standpoint of a journalist will still play the most important role that Public Broadcaster is and will be fully impartial.
“I am sure that we will provide the population with precise information during elections, and we will pass the elections praiseworthily,” Maghlaperidze claimed.
