Tbilisi Mayor: No country to be allowed to interfere in Georgia's elections

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated that no one will be allowed to interfere in Georgia’s domestic affairs and attempt to cause disruptions during the upcoming parliamentary elections. He made these comments in response to President Salome Zourabichvili’s statement about Russia’s propaganda and potential interference in the 2024 elections.

“Elections will be conducted democratically, as in previous years. Neither Russia, America, Europe, nor any other country will be granted the opportunity to interfere in Georgia’s domestic affairs and attempt to cause trouble. We had a similar example during the 2020 elections, where ISFED (International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy) was implicated in falsifying parallel vote counts. Studying this matter will reveal their sources of funding and those behind it. I reiterate that no one will be allowed to disrupt the elections, and any attempt to change the government illegally will not be tolerated. Transitions in government should occur exclusively through elections and the people’s will,” Kaladze stated.
