European Georgia: Politicized judicial cases and early elections to be key issues
“The politicized judicial cases and the early elections are the key issues in the framework document,” Giga Bokeria, a member of the European Georgia party, told journalists after the meeting held at the Presidential Orbeliani Palace.
“The government has so far had an unfavourable position. We have a positive starting point now with the mediation of Charles Michel. President Michel said that he expects progress in the coming days. We can not overcome this crisis without solving the issues related to Nika Melia and other topics. The politicized judicial cases and the early elections are the key issues in the framework document. These issues are included in this framework agenda at the initiative of President Michel,” Bokeria said.
According to Bokeria, peaceful rallies will continue.
“Peaceful rallies are an absolutely normal part of a democratic society. So, nothing has changed. We will continue peaceful picketing,” he added.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and opposition politicians have gathered at the presidential palace at a meeting mediated by European Council President Charles Michel.
