The unity of the orchestra is really a miracle. The real question isn’t how, but rather, why don’t we have this unity in our everyday lives? The orchestra is defined by a situation where completely different people with different experiences, ideas, and ways of life sit and play together. Here we think and we breathe together. Luckily, this happens every time, which surprises us and which we pay careful attention to. The harmonious co-existence of the orchestra is the best example of what everyone can achieve. It would be amazing if the world could feel the amazing power of that unity, even if just once. It’s a shame that we are going in a different direction. I couldn’t even tell you what role music will play in 50 year’s time, since the world is now more focused on visuals than on audio and musical things. Like, what’s called music nowadays, whether it’s pop or something else, in my opinion, isn’t music, although that doesn’t mean it’s worthless. Rather, it’s something else entirely, with no connection to music. It’s possible that that’s just true nowadays and the future will turn out to be more beneficial for music.
