Events promoting Georgian wine have been held in Yerevan as part of the “Georgian Culture Days” taking place in the Armenian capital.
The programme is being supported and organised by the Georgian government, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Wine Agency, and the Georgian Embassy in Armenia.
According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, large-scale events dedicated to promoting Georgian history, culture and wine were held at Missak Manouchian Park. The events were attended by Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili and National Wine Agency Chairman Levan Mekhuzla.
“Holding Georgian Culture Days in Yerevan helps promote Georgian history, culture and traditions. An important component of the event is the presentation of Georgian wine. Our country is the birthplace of wine – we have an 8,000-year history of wine production and more than 500 endemic grape varieties,” Pavliashvili said.
“It is significant that wine production in Georgia is growing annually, which is due to correct government policy in the sector,” he added.
The events included a Georgian wine tasting featuring 15 Georgian wine-producing companies.
