Vice Speaker Volski: Saakashvili is doing everything to ensure extremist processes unfold, allowing him to lead his party down radicalised path

“No matter how they reshape the internal structure of the United National Movement, their core identity remains untouched. Rearranging the components does not change the total sum,” the First Vice-Speaker of Parliament, Gia Volski, has declared.

According to Volski, the opposition’s solitary objective is to orchestrate a revolution and overthrow the government through force.

“They claim they will operate not as a political party, but as a ‘Reforms Council’ modelled on what was implemented in Ukraine. Mikheil Saakashvili spearheaded that council in Ukraine, and it brought nothing but hardship to that nation. Their singular goal is to instigate a revolution and seize power by force.

Beyond that, they have no alternative plan, only one that caters to the ambitions of foreign elements intent on establishing a puppet regime in Georgia sooner or later. Their objective is to weaponise Georgia as a tool in a war against Russia. Saakashvili is essentially signalling that he can best deliver on this agenda. People often note that a segment of society historically supported the UNM. Let us not forget that Hitler also enjoyed massive public support, but that support ultimately culminated in sheer destruction,” Gia Volski stated.

The First Vice-Speaker further noted that the Constitutional Court must now deliberate on whether the country previously suffered under a regime of systemic torture and human rights abuses, violations that have been repeatedly validated by the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

“The court must also consider whether Saakashvili bears criminal responsibility for the fact that 20 per cent of our national territory is occupied, with Russian occupation forces still stationed in Georgia to this day, presenting a severe threat to the nation. If this evidence holds up and is verified, there is simply no scenario in which this party should keep its legal status.

There is nothing new in these developments. Saakashvili has always delusionally viewed himself as the George Washington of the Eastern Hemisphere. He has claimed on multiple occasions that Georgia was completely dysfunctional until he arrived to lead a populace he patronisingly described as merely distinguished by large bellies, moustaches, big hats, and folk dancing. His current ambition is to rely on that same playbook, amplified by external backing, to return to the absolute power he held when governing the country through those oppressive methods. He is doing everything in his power to ensure that extremist processes unfold, allowing him to lead his party down a highly radicalised path,” Volski concluded.
