Vice Speaker of Georgian Parliament calls for diplomatic de-escalation amid worries over Middle East tensions
“The situation in the Middle East is deeply concerning. We firmly support efforts to de-escalate the conflict through diplomatic channels. War and military confrontation are not the answer,” said Nino Tsilosani, Vice Speaker of the Parliament.
She expressed hope that “the immense tension will ease.”
“The circumstances in the region are extremely grave. Given its proximity to Georgia, the ongoing unrest is of significant concern to us. We extend our condolences to all those who have lost loved ones, whether in Iran or Israel. The damage to infrastructure has been substantial, and the scale of military intervention is truly alarming. Of course, we advocate for resolving this crisis through diplomatic means, because war and violence will only deepen suffering. We call on all nations to pursue peaceful solutions to the fullest extent.
The Georgian government has already issued condolences for the lives lost in both Iran and Israel. We maintain close relations with the United Arab Emirates and Israel, which are actively engaged in efforts to restore stability. The presidents of Türkiye and Azerbaijan have also expressed their condolences following the assassination of Iran’s national leader. Anyone who takes pleasure in this situation is clearly not in their right mind, as the current climate is far from conducive to peace in the region. We hope that this great tension will be alleviated and that meaningful negotiations will take place,” Tsilosani stated.
