UNM’s Tsitlidze accuses rival opposition figures of betraying ex-President Saakashvili, urging voters to trust ‘unyielding’ party
“The primary question facing opposition-minded voters in Georgia today is how to defeat the regime and who can be trusted,” United National Movement (UNM) member Ana Tsitlidze stated at a party rally in Tbilisi’s Rike Park.
Tsitlidze insisted that defeating the current regime remains achievable, but stressed that success depends entirely on securing the freedom of former President Mikheil Saakashvili.
“The central question for opposition-leaning citizens today is simple: how do we defeat this regime, and who can we actually trust? The answer is straightforward—defeating the regime is possible, but it hinges entirely on Mikheil Saakashvili’s freedom. Many in the broader opposition lost their nerve, backed down, sold out, and outright betrayed Misha. When you ask yourselves who to trust, look at the United National Movement. Look at this team, which has stood unbroken since 2012—people who could not be bought, who refused to flinch, and who never retreated,” Tsitlidze told the assembled crowd.
