Georgian FM Botchorishvili to speak at Sofia Economic Forum
The Sofia Economic Forum opens in Bulgaria today, bringing participants together to discuss future strategies and economic opportunities amidst the challenges facing the world and Europe.
Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Maka Botchorishvili, will take part in the event in the Bulgarian capital.
She will speak on a panel titled “European Unity at a Crossroads: Nationalism or a Common Strategy”. Alongside the seventh Sofia Economic Forum, Botchorishvili will also hold bilateral meetings.
Georgia’s Ambassador to Bulgaria, Zurab Khamashuridze, described the forum as a high-level economic platform for dialogue attended by senior politicians from the host country and across Europe.
“The Foreign Minister and Vice Prime Minister’s visit to the Republic of Bulgaria begins today. She will meet Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister. She will also take part in and address the high-level economic forum. It is a high-level platform for dialogue, bringing together senior politicians from the host and European countries, as well as representatives of business, industry and other sectors. This visit is especially important given the ongoing geopolitical developments. The panel will allow the minister to showcase Georgia’s central role in the Middle Corridor and regional connectivity, while reinforcing the country’s ongoing commitment to global transit networks.
At the bilateral meetings, the two sides will discuss developments in their current cooperation and prospects for deepening it further. The topics will, of course, include important issues such as energy, transport, digital connectivity, tourism and trade. I want to stress once again the context of this visit, at a time when Georgia plays a very important, key role as a bridge connecting East and West, Asia and Europe, especially in the context of the Middle Corridor,” the ambassador said.
The Delphi Economic Forum organised the event, which features more than 250 speakers and over 1,000 participants.
