UNM’s Parulava: Ivanishvili is wrong if he believes that legal status halts Georgian people’s fight for freedom and European future
“Under this regime, a party cell cannot exist; only a patriotic cell rooted in unity and resistance will endure,” stated Lasha Parulava, a member of the United National Movement.
As Parulava pointed out, Georgian society must continue its struggle outside traditional party frameworks.
“The regime’s ban on political parties and the intensification of repression clearly demonstrate that Ivanishvili’s group is in complete international isolation. The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, who was in Georgia, did not acknowledge the farce, lies, and Russian special operation carried out in the country on October 4. This places a heavy burden on them, and we have already seen how the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office was penalised by the regime. They have taken control of everything; Ivanishvili’s regime has crossed all red lines. Clearly, Georgian society will have to fight beyond party structures. If Ivanishvili believes that the seal of justice or legal status will halt the Georgian people’s pursuit of justice, freedom, and a European future, he is gravely mistaken. We understand the nature of the struggle we face. Under this regime, a traditional party cell cannot survive; only a patriotic cell founded on unity and resistance will persist,” Parulava emphasised.
He further explained that a party is not merely a legal status, but a community of citizens who trust and support a particular political organisation.
“Of course, we will continue our fight, an entirely national fight, transcending party boundaries, aimed at freeing Georgia from Ivanishvili’s oligarchic regime. Achieving this requires immense unity and resilience. We are committed to fostering this unity. A party is not just a legal entity; first and foremost, it comprises citizens, voters, and society, those who place their trust in a specific political movement. Such a movement is truly the United National Movement. Supported by loyal voters and supporters, we will persist in our struggle against Ivanishvili’s regime,” Parulava concluded.
