Fall session of Georgian Parliament opens

The fall session of the Georgian Parliament has opened. Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili congratulated MPs on the commencement of the fall session and wished them success.

“We will have the opportunity to review significant issues and engage in committee work. I call on everyone to be active. I would like to thank committees, which actively worked in summer, including by holding field meetings. Let us keep up the pace and hold off-site sessions besides meetings in the parliament building,” he said.

The Speaker explained that reviewing draft bills would continue as usual in the current session week.

New initiatives were registered yesterday. There are no fast-track bills, so the review process will proceed at the standard pace. Since there are no bills on the agenda for today’s plenary session, and given that it is a Tuesday, we will hear political statements.
