UNM's Parulava: Georgian people must seize power, hold elections led by trustworthy figures like Nino Lomjaria
“Unity and resilience demand that the Georgian people take control, holding elections conducted in a free and transparent manner by a dedicated and honest group within the Central Election Commission that commands the trust of the nation,” stated Lasha Parulava, a member of the Political Council of the United National Movement opposition party.
According to Parulava, there are many conscientious individuals, including Nino Lomjaria, former Public Defender of Georgia and founder of the civil platform Georgia’s European Orbit, who are capable of taking responsibility for this process.
“My goal is to end Ivanishvili’s grip on this country. I refuse to compromise with anyone; I have been committed to this struggle for thirteen years. These people must make a choice; they need to stand on the side of the nation. We are fighting to restore democracy. Look, our objective is clear: on October 4, we aim to forge a strong unity and a formidable opposition, with surprises in store. If you’re expecting us to reveal our plan, I must disappoint you; we won’t. Kuprava’s video has nothing to do with the surprises that await Bidzina Ivanishvili in abundance.
Let me be direct: true unity and opposition mean that the Georgian people must take power into their own hands. Elections must be scheduled within the country and conducted in a free, fair, and transparent environment by a conscientious group within the Central Election Commission, a group that the people trust. There are many honest individuals, including Nino Lomjaria, who can shoulder responsibility for this process.
I am not making an offer at this moment; I am merely referring to specific individuals whose reputation is crucial for this process.
Now they’re trying to deceive us again, claiming Bidzina is a philanthropist, promising to release political prisoners in November and call elections in March. Who are they fooling? Let us not forget what Ivanishvili did: when Gakharia blindsided the youth, Ivanishvili appeared and promised proportional elections only to deceive us. Have we forgotten this? How many times does Ivanishvili have to pull his stunts? Now he will face a genuine response from Georgian society, a verdict will be passed on him, and that verdict will be executed on Rustaveli Avenue,” said Lasha Parulava on PalitraNews.
