UNM’s Khabeishvili: Solidarity with all who suffer for love of Georgia; don't tear each other down, unity is what matters

“No one has the moral right to criticise a captive person; the know-it-alls are passing judgement on a man who believed in the Georgian people’s victory, even if this didn’t work out temporarily, at this stage,” reads a letter sent from prison by Levan Khabeishvili, chairman of the United National Movement’s political council, which has been shared on his Facebook page.

“Paata Burchuladze, a 71-year-old citizen of the world, a world-renowned opera bass, refused comfort, luxury, and a peaceful life, and chose self-sacrificing struggle. Through leading by personal example, taking responsibility, and out of love for Georgia, he found himself behind bars. I consider it shameful and unconscionable for anyone to judge him, nitpick his strategy, his methods of struggle, his content, or his tactics. The know-it-alls are passing judgment on a man who believed in the victory of the Georgian people, and if this didn’t succeed temporarily, at this stage, no one has the moral right to criticise a person who is captive.

Irakli Nadiradze is my blood brother. I’ve rarely seen a more noble, talented, or courageous man on this earth. His only crime is selfless love of his homeland, and also the fact that this father of four chose battle over fleeing the battlefield, at the cost of his own freedom.

I watched Murtaz Zodelava’s final TV broadcasts before his arrest. I truly came to know this man’s mentality, courage, and resilience afresh.

Paata Manjgaladze is a businesslike, talented, responsible citizen and patriot of Georgia. At the court hearing, Lasha Beridze’s words were likewise the statement of a meticulous patriot, a man in love with his homeland.

Likewise, solidarity with all who suffer for love of Georgia.

It’s impossible to fight an occupation regime with a pre-determined ‘cheat sheet’. There is one solution and one plan: the people, the people again and again. Don’t tear each other down or criticise those who take the initiative; otherwise, we’ll be left with nothing but critics and commentators.

Can we remove Ivanishvili? Yes, yes, and yes once more! Absolutely, we can!

Join hands with one another. Whoever has stumbled or fallen, lift them up immediately. Unity and belief in our own strength are of paramount importance.

As for the Russian special operation, the ‘elections’. The facts show that Gakharia’s party received 65-70 per cent more votes in 2024 than now, meaning 65-70 per cent of his direct electorate refused him their trust, resulting in 110,000 fewer ‘votes’.

Almost the same thing happened to the Lelo party, which was abandoned by 50 per cent of its voters and received 100,000 fewer ‘votes’.

These infallible pieces of evidence confirm that they miscalculated not just with others, but even with their own electorate.

Parties ranging from two to five per cent support shouldn’t condescend to a society that, as it turns out, isn’t interested in their existence, dispensing wisdom in seventy per cent doses.

They too have a way out: emerge from the party illusion and stand beside, support the people.

What troubles me most is that, being in absolute isolation, I was unable to help Georgia’s citizens.

It’s also a fact, and infallible, that on October 4, hundreds of thousands of people saw each other after 300 days. It turns out the protest hadn’t disappeared or been extinguished after all; rather, the patriotic spirit of freedom still beats sharply in people’s hearts.

Meanwhile, yet another murder! Moreover, in a case connected to Ivanishvili, his money, to Mdinaradze, and his State Security Service. The alleged attempted murder of Rizhvadze [former head of Adjara government]; a State Security Service employee suspiciously killed or found dead in Adjara a week earlier; and the deceased found in a garage, the former head of Gldani Prison, from the Bachiashvili case scandal.

How long must we live from murder to murder, from blood to blood?! Under today’s regime, we’ll never learn the truth about these alleged murders/suicides.

Strength lies in unity!! Strength lies in the people!! May God bless Georgia,” states Levan Khabeishvili’s letter.
