Ex-President Saakashvili: Anyone who thinks regaining Abkhazia is just about reconciling with 50,000 Abkhazians has mush for brains
“Anyone who thinks that the path to restoring control over Abkhazia relies solely on reconciling with a maximum of 50,000 Abkhazians has mush for brains instead of actual thoughts. The Abkhazians despise us, and there is no fixing that,” wrote former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili in a social media post.
As Saakashvili noted, “Abkhazia is a major geopolitical issue, the resolution of which hinges on the weakening and eventual collapse of the Russian Empire.
It is a question that depends on Ukraine’s triumphs, the strength of the West, and, of course, Georgia itself staying in top shape.
So stop playing fortune-teller and see the bigger picture. At the same time, I wish to express my condolences to the family of the late Abkhaz blogger, Daur Buava,” Saakashvili wrote.
