Jan De Nul Project Director: Anaklia Port is a crucial driver for Georgia’s economy, expanding employment and boosting national and global GDP

“Anaklia Deep Sea Port is a landmark project for the Georgian economy, destined to boost job creation as well as drive both domestic GDP growth and global economic output,” stated Eric Beyts, Anaklia Project Director for the Belgian contractor Jan De Nul Group.

He emphasised that Jan De Nul is proud to play a central role in the realisation of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port scheme.

“To guarantee top-tier engineering standards and execution, we are collaborating with Royal Haskoning, an internationally renowned engineering firm. Working alongside them, we developed an optimised project plan to achieve the finest possible design without compromising efficiency or quality. Currently, we are operating two modern vessels, the Al-Idrisi and the Tristao da Cunha, which together enable us to carry out over 70,000 cubic metres of seabed dredging per day,” the Jan De Nul Project Director noted.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Eric Beyts stated that the company will complete the marine dredging works on schedule, delivering an access channel depth of 17.5 metres to allow the largest maritime vessels operating in the Black Sea to berth seamlessly.

“We take immense pride in delivering this project and demonstrating our technical capabilities. We look forward to maintaining a leading role in the subsequent phases of the port’s development,” the Jan De Nul Project Director concluded.
