UNM’s Ana Tsitlidze: UNM embodies ideas and values; we will fight on regardless of Constitutional Court ruling

“The United National Movement represents ideas and values. Regardless of what decision the Constitutional Court reaches, the UNM will continue its fight against Bidzina Ivanishvili’s regime,” declared UNM MP Ana Tsitlidze.

Tsitlidze emphasised that UNM and its vast voter base are not defined merely by official Ministry of Justice paperwork and registration stamps.

“We have stated repeatedly and warned everyone, including Giorgi Gakharia’s party, that how you present yourself to the regime ultimately makes no difference. Those who participated in the 2025 Russian-style special operation, including the local elections, expected that doing so would shield them from the oligarchic system. Likewise, taking up parliamentary seats was part of Gakharia’s self-preservation strategy. Yet the only thing that true political survival requires is consistency,” Tsitlidze noted.

“I do not know the underlying motive behind adding Gakharia’s party to the lawsuit now. Whatever their intention, it clearly demonstrates that Georgian Dream is seeking to use this legal lawsuit as leverage, particularly in bargaining with our international partners, attempting to trade the potential banning of opposition parties against the lifting of sanctions on Bidzina Ivanishvili,” Tsitlidze continued.

“Our stance remains crystal clear: for our hundreds of thousands of voters and for us, the United National Movement is not defined by Ministry of Justice paper or official seals. The United National Movement represents ideas and values. Regardless of what decision the Constitutional Court reaches, the UNM will continue its fight against the Ivanishvili regime,” Tsitlidze concluded.
