“The October 14 rally is not a protest by the United National Movement (UNM) party only. It will be a rally of those who believe that injustice reigns in the country, Mikheil Saakashvili (ex-president) should be free. It will be a rally for those who see Saakashvili being an unlawful captive of Vladimir Putin (Russian President) and Bidzina Ivanishvili (former GD Chair),” said Zaal Udumashvili, a member of the UNM party.
According to Udumashvili, no matter which parties participate in the protest, though the opposition unity matters. However, he believes it is up to the opposition parties to decide their way and political agenda.
“Many people tell me that they have never voted for the UNM and will not do so in the future. But they are going to join the rally because they no longer can accept the injustice and iniquity taking place in the country,” Udumashvili claimed.
The opposition United National Movement (UNM) announced a large-scale protest rally in Tbilisi on October 14 in support and solidarity with imprisoned ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili.
