UNM Khabeishvili: Childish debate, alliance formed three months ago, still no clarity on future
Levan Khabeishvili, chairman of the Political Council of the United National Movement, has called on political actors to focus on practical work rather than internal debates over the party’s participation in an opposition alliance.
In a post on Facebook, Khabeishvili said discussions about whether the UNM should remain in or leave the alliance are “meaningless” and distract from creating a political agenda.
“Time is short, and we are wasting it on imaginary dilemmas. Let’s focus on work,” he wrote.
Khabeishvili argued that the key issue is not formal participation in alliances, but whether political forces are able to set an agenda and challenge the ruling party.
“It doesn’t matter whether we enter or leave. What matters is what agenda we create. The main thing is whether we are building a political agenda and attacking Ivanishvili. If we do that, others will decide for themselves whether to join,” he stated.
He added that ongoing debates over “entering or exiting” alliances are unproductive and reflect a lack of clarity about political goals.
“This is turning into a childish discussion. An alliance was formed three months ago, and for four months there has been confusion about whether to enter or leave. That happens because we don’t know what we are doing,” Khabeishvili wrote.
