UNM comments on Zviad Kuprava’s arrest
The United National Movement (UNM) opposition party has issued a statement concerning the arrest of its member of Tbilisi Sakrebulo (city council) by the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG).
“The Russian gang of traitorous criminals continues its political repression. Today, they arrested Zviad Kuprava, a member of the Tbilisi Sakrebulo faction of the United National Movement.
Since taking power, Ivanishvili’s government has eroded all red lines, dismissing freedom of speech and expression, restricting constitutional rights, and imprisoning citizens for political statements.
With October 4 approaching, the regime’s fear has grown even more. It is crucial not to fall for the provocations orchestrated by the government in these final days.
On October 4, the Georgian people will gather on Rustaveli Avenue to peacefully, legally, and constitutionally express their say to the Russian puppet government!
This chapter will soon come to an end, political prisoners will be freed, and we will rebuild a united, strong, free, independent, European Georgia with dignity!” the statement reads.
The State Security Service has detained Zviad Kuprava, a deputy of the Tbilisi Sakrebulo from the United National Movement. According to the SSSG, his detention relates to a video message he issued concerning election disruptions.
